Roadwork is affecting traffic in the region

  • A large pothole with water coming out of it was reported in the southbound lane of Highway 9 at Grove St. in San Lorenzo Valley. The pothole was marked with a cone, but cars were moving into the northbound lane to get around it. The incident was reported on September 8.
     

Restaurant inspections

County officials regularly inspect food facilities to ensure compliance with state laws. Here, Lookout Santa Cruz reports both those who have passed the inspections and those that the county deems to have a “major” issue. The county’s full ongoing report can be accessed here.

  • Marea Sol Cafe at 301 Beach St., Santa Cruz, was cited for high-risk violations of improper food temperatures, improper food preparation or handling and unapproved food sources or contaminated food and low-risk violations of inadequate hand-washing procedures, inadequate washing of utensils or equipment, improper food temperatures, infestation of rodents or insects, improper food preparation or handling, unapproved food sources or contaminated food and inadequate employee hygiene or training during a county health inspection on September 5. The issues were resolved during the inspection.
     

No crimes to report today
