Quick Take:

Traffic will be impacted on Pacific Avenue and Front Street, north of Beach Street and south of Second Street through May. Two other projects — one set for next week and one ongoing — are nearby.

Santa Cruz public works officials are advising motorists and cyclists to prepare for delays along a stretch of Pacific Avenue because of sidewalk and storm-drain work that’s set to begin today and run through May.

The project, designed to mitigate flooding and fill in a missing part of sidewalk, will take place along Pacific, between Front Street and Second Street. Traffic will be impacted on Pacific and Front, north of Beach Street and south of Second.

Two-way traffic will remain in place, officials say, but vehicle lanes, bike lanes and sidewalks will be affected. Construction will occur on weekdays between 7 a.m. and 4 p.m.

• A smaller project not far from the Pacific Avenue construction site is set to begin the following week. It will repair a damaged storm-drain pipe at West Cliff Drive and Santa Cruz Street. That work set is set to begin Monday, March 22, and run through Friday, March 26.

Between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. those days, all vehicular traffic will be detoured from West Cliff Drive to Lighthouse Avenue via Gharkey Street or Monterey Street.

• Utility undergrounding work for the Pacific Front Mixed-Use Development Project is continuing through May. That work is impacting traffic on Front Street, north of Laurel Street, and on Laurel Street, between the Laurel Street Bridge and Cedar Street.
