WATCH: Santa Cruz County public health officials give update on virus, vaccine
Santa Cruz County Public Health officials gave their weekly update on vaccination progress and virus spread at 2 p.m. Thursday.
The press conference was their first since the county officially moved into the red tier of the state’s Blueprint for a Safer Economy on Wednesday.
Earlier this week, the county also achieved a vaccination milestone with more than 10% of county residents fully vaccinated with both doses of the vaccine. You can read more daily COVID-19 and vaccine updates here.
However, questions remain about the equitable distribution of the vaccine. New data shows the county is focusing its efforts on vaccinating the Watsonville community which was the hardest-hit during the pandemic. However, Watsonville leaders are crying foul after the city was left out of the state’s plan to ensure equitable distribution of the vaccine.
