A new COVID-19 vaccination site is opening in Watsonville for people Santa Cruz County residents in Phase 1A and over 65.

There will be a new vaccination site for Santa Cruz County residents in Watsonville operated by OptumServe, the same company that operates the testing site in Ramsay Park.

The appointment-only site will be located in council chambers of Old City Hall at 250 Main St. It will operate Thursday through Monday, between 9 a.m. and 6 p.m., and offer 210 appointments per day.

Current eligibility includes individuals in Phase 1a, all county residents aged 75 and older, and residents aged 65 and older who reside in the Pajaro Valley zip codes, 95019, 95076, 95077.

Phase 1a health care employees need to provide proof of employment, people 65 and older need to bring proof of residency and age, while people over 75 need only bring proof of their age, according to a statement released by county communications officer Jason Hoppin.

The statement also warned that “line-skipping will not be tolerated,” and included a reminder that “vaccines administered to elderly residents are 300 times more likely to save a life than one administered to healthy adults under age 50.”
