Power outage hits more than 7,000 customers in Santa Cruz County
PG&E is investigating the cause of a power outage that left 7,033 Santa Cruz County customers without power Thursday afternoon.
The utility learned of the outage at 1:25 p.m, according to spokeswoman Mayra Tostado.
She said power was restored for most customers in about 20 minutes, with a small number remaining without power until 2:30 p.m.
Impacted areas included Santa Cruz, Watsonville, Aptos and Soquel.
The Christmas Eve outage comes a week after 63,000 customers lost power in a massive, countywide power outage Dec. 15.
Utility officials said the Dec. 15 outage was caused by the failure of transmission equipment.
