Land Trust Executive Director Stephen Slade to retire this summer

Stephen Slade, the executive director of the Land Trust of Santa Cruz County, will retire this summer after 15 years with the Land Trust.

The Land Trust of Santa Cruz County announced in a statement Friday that executive director Stephen Slade will retire this summer.

Slade has been with the Land Trust since 2006, when he joined as the development and communications director, eventually becoming executive director in 2016.

Under the leadership of Slade and former executive director Terry Corwin, the Land Trust increased the amount of land it has protected from 1,500 acres to 16,500 acres.

The Land Trust is now actively seeking a new executive director to replace Slade. The Trust has some “big hiking boots to fill,” said chair of the Land Trust Board Donna Murphy in a news release.
