UCSC police report burglaries of drones, laptops, other electronics from Coastal Science Campus

UC Santa Cruz police are investigating a pair of burglaries at the Coastal Biology Building and are seeking the public’s help in identifying the suspect or suspects.

The UC Santa Cruz Police Department is seeking the public’s help in investigating a pair of burglaries at the university’s Coastal Biology Building earlier this month.

Sometime between 6 p.m. on March 4 and 7:20 a.m. on March 5, a suspect or suspects entered an office at the building, 130 McAllister Way, and stole items including two drones, three laptops, a Honda generator and hand tools. A UCSC vehicle also appeared to have been burglarized.

Later — between 6 p.m. on March 5 and 8:20 a.m. on March 8 — a suspect or suspects stole two broken drones, projectors, laptops, external hard drives and keyboards.

The police department had yet to release the estimated value of the items, according to a campus spokesperson.

Anyone who has information regarding the incidents is asked to call the campus dispatch center at (831) 459-2231, extension 1.
