Bay Federal Credit Union is proud to announce the return of Creedence Shaw as Vice President of Business Services. A seasoned financial leader with deep ties to the local community, Mr. Shaw brings a proven track record of driving meaningful impact through his work and volunteer efforts, aligning seamlessly with Bay Federal’s mission to improve the financial well-being of the communities it serves.

Mr. Shaw’s extensive background in financial services highlights his qualifications for this critical role at the Credit Union. He has held senior leadership positions at respected institutions, where his efforts were instrumental in supporting local businesses. In those roles, Mr. Shaw excelled in business loan origination, underwriting, and portfolio management, focusing on commercial real estate (CRE), Small Business Administration (SBA) loans, and Commercial and Industrial (C&I) lending.

During some of the community’s most challenging times, Mr. Shaw demonstrated exceptional dedication. Following the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, he was the driving force behind the distribution of Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) loans, ensuring more than 4,500 local businesses could retain employees and maintain operations during an unprecedented economic downturn.

His leadership during this period was transformative. By spearheading the PPP program, which funneled over five hundred million dollars into the local economy, Mr. Shaw and his team surpassed the national average of 222 loans processed per bank, safeguarding payroll for more than 29,000 jobs in Santa Cruz County.

Beyond his professional achievements, Mr. Shaw’s dedication to the community distinguishes him as more than a financial expert. He serves on the Board of Directors for the Santa Cruz County Long Term Recovery Group (SCCLTRG), an organization dedicated to helping the community recover from major disasters. After the devastating CZU fires, Mr. Shaw worked tirelessly to support affected residents and businesses, providing the resources and financial stability needed for recovery.

Mr. Shaw is also a member of the Santa Cruz County Search and Rescue team, embracing challenges that test his endurance and problem-solving skills. He describes search missions as “incredibly rewarding,” noting that he enjoys being dropped into uncharted terrain with only his training, a GPS, and a partner to navigate the task of finding those who have gone off the beaten path.

An avid adventurer, Mr. Shaw lives his passion for the outdoors. Whether running, cycling, sailing, paddling, or embarking on long hikes, he relishes every opportunity to be outside. He once completed a self-designed 50-mile marathon, aptly named the “4Bs” — Bay to Big Basin to Beach — a testament to his determination and love for pushing boundaries.

Carrie Birkhofer, President and CEO of Bay Federal Credit Union, expressed her enthusiasm for Mr. Shaw’s return. “We are thrilled to welcome Creedence Shaw back to Bay Federal. His leadership, deep understanding of business services, and commitment to our community make him the ideal person to lead our Business Services team. We look forward to continuing to add value for our members and the business community with Creedence leading the way.”

As Vice President of Business Services, Mr. Shaw is poised to lead efforts in providing tailored financial solutions that address the unique needs of small to middle-market businesses, driving economic growth and creating opportunities for the communities Bay Federal serves.

“Creating pathways to economic mobility and supporting the growth of quality jobs are at the heart of what we do,” Mr. Shaw said. “By providing businesses with the tools they need to succeed, we’re not just supporting entrepreneurs—we’re uplifting the entire community.”

Bay Federal Credit Union looks forward to the contributions Mr. Shaw will make as the organization continues to build on its commitment to delivering exceptional financial services to members and businesses alike.
