Duffy Barrett

Duffy Barrett is proud to be joining the Lookout movement as our Advertising Sales and Marketing Partnerships Representative. 

A native to the Central Coast, Duffy began his professional journey at 14, helping his parents run their small family restaurant on the weekends. After spending some time pursuing creative interests in the local underground music scene–where he would first learn how to utilize the power of social media marketing in an increasingly digital culture, Duffy would go on to graduate from both Cabrillo College and San José State University with degrees in Anthropology. 

His education and experience working in various customer and client-facing roles, combined with a passion for working with local businesses, would lead to his tenure as an advertising account executive at Santa Cruz alt-weekly Good Times before he would ultimately make the jump to Lookout.

“As an anthropology major, I was trained how to take a step back, identify areas of opportunity, and come up with solutions,” Duffy says. “Especially after experiencing firsthand the impacts that the 2008 recession and the pandemic had on small businesses, for me, being able to help business owners and community groups display their viability and expand their audience is a real privilege.”
