Gillian Greensite, a longtime Santa Cruz activist and advocate who ran for mayor in this year’s primary, endorsed Ryan Coonerty for Santa Cruz mayor on Thursday, becoming the first of the primary’s former candidates to publicly back one of the two remaining contenders.
Former candidate Joy Schendledecker also appears on Ami Chen Mills’ campaign website as a community member endorser, but Greensite is the first former primary candidate to announce an endorsement of either Coonerty or Chen Mills. Greensite received just over 11% of the vote in the June primary.
