Kevin Painchaud

Kevin Painchaud is an international award-winning photojournalist. He has shot for various publications for the past 30 years, appearing on sites nationwide, including ABC News, CBS News, CNN, MSNBC, The Weather Channel and more. A native of the Santa Cruz Mountains, he’s lived all over California, returning to Santa Cruz 14 years ago.

His round-the-clock coverage of the Pajaro floods served as an anchor for Lookout’s extensive 2023 storms coverage, and was aired nationally on ABC’s “World News Tonight.”

Kevin lives in Aptos with his family, doors away from his parents and a mile away from his sister. The Santa Cruz community means the world to him, and he feels honored to capture the good and bad moments of life, the full gamut our community experiences.

He’s served Lookout Santa Cruz readers since Lookout’s 2020 launch. “Shooting for Lookout has truly given me the opportunity to work my dream job and the flexibility to not only showcase my photography, but also to allow me to tell stories of my community every day,” Kevin says.
