Nichols, a renowned marine biologist, ecologist, and author of the bestseller “Blue Mind,” which explores the therapeutic effects of water, has passed away at 56, leaving behind a legacy of environmental advocacy and a movement that connected neuroscience with the love for water. Nichols, who lived on Santa Cruz County’s North Coast, was a passionate defender of sea turtles and the environment.
