Letter to the editor: Measure C is better than status quo

I agree with Keven Cook’s goal of expanding Santa Cruz’s transfer tax, but I think we should pass Measure C because collecting something to put toward affordable housing is better than nothing.

What Mr. Cook is proposing is not on the ballot. Our choice is Measure C or sticking with the status quo. I don’t understand how the status quo of collecting nothing is better than collecting something. Let’s pass Measure C, start collecting something, then try to write a more expensive measure next year.
