In partnership with the Downtown Association of Santa Cruz, the City of Santa Cruz will host its 11th annual Parking for Hope downtown holiday parking campaign.

During the campaign, running this Thursday through next Thursday, Dec. 25, proceeds from downtown street parking meters and ParkMobile stations will be donated to local nonprofit Hope Services. Forty cents from each ParkMobile pay-by-phone transaction will also be donated to Hope Services.

For over 25 years, Hope Services has worked to keep downtown Santa Cruz clean by providing training, employment and support services to adults with developmental disabilities.

Over the years, Parking for Hope has raised $285,580 for Hope Services to pay the wages of the nonprofit’s Downtown Litter Abatement Crew, which employs five part-time workers, many of whom have worked with Hope Services for years.

Last year’s campaign raised $17,835, the city said in a media release, which allowed for more crew workdays to keep downtown debris-free.

Placards have been posted on downtown parking meters describing the Parking for Hope campaign.
