Job Description/Summary:ย 

Kuumbwa Jazz is seeking a detail-oriented and creative part-time Marketing & Social Media Coordinator to support our vibrant concert calendar and music education programs. Reporting to both the Executive Director and Creative Director, this role plays a key part in coordinating marketing efforts, creating and distributing digital content, and strengthening the organization’s online presence. This position also serves as a liaison to artist representatives for marketing-related communications. 

Marketing Asset Production & Distributionย 

โ—‹ Assist in the production and distribution of monthly posters/graphics and distribute finished posters/graphics to key staff and artist representatives.

โ—‹ Localize artist โ€˜admatsโ€™ provided by artist representative.ย 

โ—‹ Create weekly print ads for Good Times Santa Cruz

โ—‹ Coordinate the production and/or distribution of other advertising materials, as needed. 

โ—‹ Assist Creative Director in the quarterly production of KJโ€™s printed event calendar/marketing material. 

Social Media Administration & Developmentย 

โ—‹ Collaborate with the Creative Director to develop and post engaging content across Kuumbwa Jazzโ€™s social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, Spotify).

โ—‹ Work with Creative Director to create a weekly queue of social media posts and other marketing activities/campaigns.ย 

โ—‹ Develop and identify strategies and ideas for continued social media (and/or other online platform) growth. 

โ—‹ Compile quarterly reports on social media and other online metrics. 

Graphic Designย 

โ—‹ Create recurring marketing assets for social media, digital advertising, and in-venue displays. 

โ—‹ Design promotional materials for education programs and special initiatives.

โ—‹ Assist in the development of new visual marketing concepts and campaigns.

Artist Representative Liaisonย 

โ—‹ Work with Creative Director and Education & Event Coordinator to field concert-related promotional facets, such as artist ensemble personnel, on-sale dates, approved marketing materials, etc. 

Website Maintenance & Email Coordinationย 

โ—‹ Perform Kuumbwa Jazz website event updates, as needed. 

โ—‹ Send pre-concert emails to ticket-holders. 

โ—‹ Create marketing email campaigns (weekly, show specific, etc.) 

โ—‹ Send press releases to local media. 

โ—‹ Work within Kuumbwaโ€™s CRM system (Spektrix) to create custom marketing mailing lists and send email campaigns 

Reporting & Administrative Supportย 

โ—‹ Assist with concert reports and artist database maintenance. 

โ—‹ Provide merchandise support, including inventory tracking.

โ—‹ Support the Creative Director with additional marketing and administrative projects as needed. 

Required Qualifications 

โ— Strong written communication, organizational, and project management skills.

โ— Ability to work independently, manage multiple projects, and meet deadlines.

โ— Comfortable communicating directly with artists, artist representatives, and industry professionals.ย 

โ— Passion for social media marketing, storytelling, and content creation.

โ— 0โ€“2 years of relevant professional experience.ย 

Preferred Qualifications 

โ— Experience with graphic design and layout tools such as Adobe Creative Suite and/or Canva. 

โ— Familiarity with website content management systems (e.g., WordPress).

โ— Experience with CRM and/or email marketing platforms.ย 

โ— Photography experience is a plus. 

โ— Recent graduates are encouraged to apply. 

Compensation & Schedule 

โ— Part-time, regular, non-exempt position. 

โ— $27/hour. 

โ— 30 – 32 hours per week. 

โ— In-person on Wednesdays from 9:00 a.m.- 3:00 p.m. 

โ— Attend approximately four concerts per month. 

โ— Attend Board meetings and occasional special events as needed. 

โ— Ability to work occasional evenings in support of concerts and organizational events.
