Member Event Memories
Thank you to all our members and readers who joined us for “Inside Santa Cruz: Apple Pressing event with Santa Cruz Cider Co.” co-hosted by Lily Belli!
This past summer our members joined us in our “Inside Santa Cruz” event series, which worked to bring people together to explore the unique, noteworthy, or under-the-radar happenings and offerings of Santa Cruz. Lookout’s Lily Belli co-hosted two foods, one with Santa Cruz Cider Company and another with H&H Fresh Co. In November, we basked in the sunny fall weather at a Watsonville tasting room. The group got a behind-the-scenes look at what it takes to make cider, including a talk on local apple history and an apple-pressing demo and tasting. It was a great way to connect with an amazing local beverage business — and each other. And in October our member crowd to a shucking good time learning about their local sourcing practices and 20 year history in Santa Cruz County and a hands on demo teaching everyone how to properly (and safely) shuck an oyster while enjoying the fresh H&H raw bar with sparkling wine courtesy of Shopper’s Corner.

Lookout memberships support a variety of programs in the community and in the classroom
We’ve donated over $37,000 to the following nonprofits since our launch in November 2020 and have collaborated with an enormous amount of local nonprofits on forums, events and marketing.
Lookout in the Classroom Programming
Students, now more than ever, need access to trustworthy, factual, non-partisan news. With Lookout’s special Student Access Program, they get it. This program only starts with access and works to engage local students with news, projects, contests and scholarships. Read more about our student engagement programs here. We also have an educator page for teachers which includes lessons, quizzes and media literacy curriculum.
We are so happy to offer these programs which have been funded by generous donors and grants, as well as memberships. We do seek to serve other deserving groups.
