Roadwork is affecting traffic in the region

  • South Highway 9 at Lorenzo Avenue in San Lorenzo Valley has one-way traffic because of emergency work. This closure will last until April 1 at 3:59 p.m.
     

Restaurant inspections

County officials regularly inspect food facilities to ensure compliance with state laws. Here, Lookout Santa Cruz reports both those who have passed the inspections and those that the county deems to have a “major” issue. The county’s full ongoing report can be accessed here.

  • Kentucky Fried Chicken at 2120 41st Ave. Ste 200b, Capitola, passed a county health inspection on March 2 with no critical issues.
     
  • Max Muscle Santa Cruz at 1420 41st Ave. Ste A, Capitola, passed a county health inspection on March 2 with no critical issues.
     
  • Chocolate Marketplace at 110 Capitola Ave., Capitola, passed a county health inspection on March 3 with no critical issues.
     
  • El Toro Bravo at 123 Monterey Ave., Capitola, passed a county health inspection on March 3 with no critical issues.
     

Community crime report 

  • A serious incident involving possible assault with a deadly weapon, domestic violence, false imprisonment, and possible child abuse happened near the 210 block of 41st in Capitola at 10 a.m. on February 27. (source)
     
  • An assault involving force likely to cause serious injury, injury to a spouse or cohabitant, and criminal threats occurred near the 310 block of Cunnison in Santa Cruz County. The incident happened at 11 p.m. on February 27. (source)
     
  • An incident involving elder or dependent adult abuse and battery on a spouse or ex-spouse occurred near the 200 block of South Rodeo Gulch Road in Santa Cruz County at 11 p.m. on February 17. (source)
      
  • A person was arrested for several offenses, including disorderly conduct involving alcohol, obstructing a police officer, driving a car without the owner’s permission, having a stolen vehicle, driving with a suspended license, and having someone else’s personal ID with the intent to commit fraud.   • A person was arrested for several offenses, including having illegal drug paraphernalia, obstructing a public officer, possessing a controlled substance, vandalism under $400, disorderly conduct involving alcohol, and being under the influence of a controlled substance.
