Roadwork is affecting traffic in the region

  • A lane on South Highway 1 at Soquel Drive is closed for landscape work. The closure will last until 11:59 p.m. on March 31.
     

Property code violations

County officials cite property owners for issues such as substandard housing, illegal uses of buildings, property maintenance, abandoned appliances or furniture, construction without permits, and other issues that affect public safety and quality of life.

  • The property at 570 35th Ave, Santa Cruz, which was cited for building code violations under case number NV25101, has now addressed the issues initially identified on June 14, 2024. The violations involved the unauthorized conversion of a garage into a living space, complete with a kitchen and bathroom, which did not comply with local building codes and regulations. The county is actively monitoring the property to ensure ongoing compliance with all relevant codes.

  • A new business named MR. RESCUE PLUMBING & ROOTER was registered at 1505 Soquel Dr #44, Santa Cruz CA 95065 on Feb. 21. The business was registered by Mian Ahmed as an individual business.
