Roadwork is affecting traffic in the region

  • A crash involving a red Honda CRV and a silver Toyota sedan happened at Salinas Rd and Werner Rd at 5:38 a.m. today. One person was trapped in a vehicle and crying, and three people had moderate injuries. Emergency crews responded, and the cars were moved to the right-hand shoulder. The crash caused traffic backups and tow trucks were needed.
     
  • A gray Honda Civic crashed into the center divider while speeding on Highway 1 South at Highway 17 South, near the Highway 1 South Connector in the Eastside / Live Oak area. The car ended up on the right-hand shoulder, facing northbound in the southbound lane. It was occupied at the time, and it’s not known if there were any injuries. The incident was reported today.
     

Restaurant inspections

County officials regularly inspect food facilities to ensure compliance with state laws. Here, Lookout Santa Cruz reports both those who have passed the inspections and those that the county deems to have a “major” issue. The county’s full ongoing report can be accessed here.

  • Watsonville Fiesta Liquors at 602 E Lake Ave., Watsonville, passed a county health inspection on September 4 with no critical issues.
