FIRST FRIDAY, GIRLS ON WHEELS, RETURN OF MS. BLUE
If you’re still recovering from the one-two punch of Halloween weekend and the annual end of daylight saving time, this weekend is about slowing down.
First Friday comes back around this week, and it’s a great time to check out art across Santa Cruz County. The Santa Cruz Art League is throwing a First Friday Viewing Party: Luck of the Draw Exhibition and Fundraiser, with a raffle to win pieces from local artists. At the Tannery Arts Center, experience the Día de los Muertos Community Exhibit, where visitors are welcome to bring photos, marigolds and offerings to a public ofrenda.
On Saturday, Sunny California Surf + Moto on 41st Avenue in Pleasure Point is hosting a screening of “The Endless Summer II” with live commentary from surf icon Wingnut, vintage surfboards, photos and a Q&A benefiting Veteran Surf Alliance. Tickets start at $25.
On Sunday, head to the Felton Pump Track for Girls on Wheels, a free drop-in bike session and mini bike clinic for girls and women from 10 a.m. to noon. Also on Sunday, the Seymour Marine Discovery Center welcomes the return of its beloved blue whale skeleton with Marine Science Fest: Ms. Blue Returns!, with hands-on activities, food trucks, and music.
