Police officers, sheriff’s deputies and other Santa Cruz County law enforcement professionals will participate in the 2025 Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics Northern California on Thursday from 10 to 11 a.m. The run will begin at Natural Bridges State Park on Santa Cruz’s Westside and end at the Dream Inn.
Since its inception in 1996, the Northern California torch run has raised more than $20 million for Special Olympics Northern California, a nonprofit that provides free year-round training and competition for over 31,000 athletes with intellectual disabilities. The organization also promotes inclusion through a variety of programs.
More than 3,500 law enforcement personnel from hundreds of local agencies take part in the torch run each year. The Santa Cruz event is a part of a larger statewide effort that culminates at the Special Olympics Northern California Summer Games scheduled for Friday through Sunday at Santa Clara University.
