The Caldor fire is now less than 15 miles from South Lake Tahoe, and fire officials are pooling resources to stop it, authorities said. “We feel pretty confident that the work that we are doing should keep it from getting to South Lake Tahoe,” one battalion chief said. “That’s not to say it’s not a threat; it’s definitely a threat.”
