The Santa Cruz Symphony, in collaboration with local students, will bring Sergei Prokofiev’s beloved Peter and the Wolf to life in a special family concert on Sunday, March 2, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. at the Civic Auditorium. This interactive performance is the culmination of the Santa Cruz Symphony’s collaboration with Carnegie Hall’s acclaimed Link Up program, a global initiative that connects students with professional musicians and the power of live classical music.

Designed for children in grades 3-5, the Link Up program immerses students in the world of orchestral music, teaching them to play an instrument and sing in preparation for a live performance. Over the past few months, students have been practicing on their recorders, and at the concert, they will bring their instruments to the Civic to play along with the Santa Cruz Symphony. For many students, it’s their first time performing alongside professional musicians—a milestone that promises to be both inspiring and unforgettable for them and their families.

Adding to the family-friendly experience, a large screen behind the orchestra will display a video with sing-along lyrics, inviting audiences of all ages to participate.
