Encompass Community Services, the largest health and human services nonprofit, has named Shellee Stopera as its new chief executive officer.

Stopera has more 30 years of leadership experience in health and human services. She has held executive positions in both nonprofit and for-profit organizations, with a focus on operations, finance, revenue development, and program innovation, Encompass wrote in a press release. She succeeds former longtime Ecompass CEO Monica Martinez, who stepped down last year to run for District 5.

Stopera joins the organization as it seeks to expand services and strengthen community partnerships across Santa Cruz County. “I’m honored to join Encompass Community Services and lead an organization with such a strong legacy of life-changing services and community impact,” Stopera said in a press release.

Elaine Johnson, Encompass Board of Trustees Chairperson wrote that: “Shellee brings not only executive experience, but also a heart for the work and the people we serve every day. We are confident that her visionary leadership will be transformative for Encompass.”
