On Tuesday, Lookout was on the ground at Watsonville City Plaza as the Pajaro Valley Collaborative (PVC)—a powerful alliance of 23 nonprofit organizations—came together to outline shared priorities and address the growing threat to critical funding streams.
The collaborative is committing to more frequent community conversations and creating opportunities for the public to hear directly from those working to provide the vital services that support families across the Pajaro Valley.

The PVC, while it began amid the COVID-19 pandemic, is not just a crisis-response coalition—it represents a long-term commitment to health, economic mobility, and civic participation in the region. Having stood together through floods and the pandemic, these organizations are now united in advocacy to protect and strengthen the systems our neighbors rely on every day.
As part of our mission to elevate local voices and provide timely, community-centered reporting, Lookout is proud to serve as a media partner for the PVC. Together, we’ll continue bringing our readers the latest updates and resources from those on the frontlines of advocacy and care.
At the heart of Tuesday’s press conference was a clear and urgent message: cuts to Medi-Cal and CalFresh threaten the well-being of tens of thousands of Pajaro Valley residents—farmworkers, families, children, seniors, veterans, and LGBTQIA+ youth among them. Watch the full press conference below.
