Property code violations

County officials cite property owners for issues such as substandard housing, illegal uses of buildings, property maintenance, abandoned appliances or furniture, construction without permits, and other issues that affect public safety and quality of life.

  • The property at 3435 Crestline Way in Soquel, CA, which was cited for a building code violation under case number NV25167, has now addressed the issue. The violation involved an unpermitted accessory dwelling unit (ADU) in the rear yard that was being used as a rental unit. Following the inspection milestone reached on November 6, 2024, a demo permit (B-246871) was issued on December 4, 2024. This permit facilitated the removal of all habitable features from the structure, including capping off electrical, plumbing, and heating, effectively returning it to its original state as a shed. The county is currently monitoring compliance to ensure the property adheres to local regulations.
