Roadwork is affecting traffic in the region

  • The on-ramp from Park Avenue to southbound Highway 1 is facing closures for paving work. The closure is expected to end on Nov. 19.

  • The southbound Highway 1 off-ramp at Bay Avenue is scheduled to be closed for approximately four months as crews reconstruct the ramp as part of the bus-on-shoulder facility. The closure began on Aug. 2.

Property code violations

County officials cite property owners for issues such as substandard housing, illegal uses of buildings, property maintenance, abandoned appliances or furniture, construction without permits, and other issues that affect public safety and quality of life.

  • The code violation case (NV24885) for the property at 3470 North Main St., Soquel, has now been resolved after being first cited on May 9, 2023. The violations included an unpermitted yurt structure — lacking plumbing and occupied by a renter — and an unpermitted conversion of a garage into an accessory dwelling unit (ADU). The case reached the hearing milestone, and the property owner has been assessed fees that must be paid to the county as part of the resolution process.
