Road incidents as of 9:30 p.m. on September 23

  • CHP helped with a construction project on northbound Highway 17 at Sugarloaf Road in Scotts Valley today.
     
  • A lane on northbound Highway 17 at W Vine Hill Road in Scotts Valley is closed for tree work. The closure is expected to end at 4:01 a.m. on September 25.
     
  • A white RV was reported as a traffic hazard at 1948 Merrill St. in Eastside / Live Oak at 9:10 p.m. today. The California Highway Patrol had dealt with this vehicle before.
     
  • A little after 7:13 p.m. today, there was a problem with the traffic signals at Paul Sweet Rd and Soquel Dr in the Eastside / Live Oak area. Several cars went around the red light after waiting for a few minutes. Authorities were called, and a technician was sent to fix the signal.
     
  • A lane on southbound Highway 1 at Larkin Valley Road in Aptos is closed for drainage work. The closure is expected to end at 5:59 a.m. on September 29.
     
  • Alternating lanes are closed on South Highway 1 at Larkin Valley Road in Aptos because of drainage work. The closure is expected to end at 5:59 a.m. on September 25.

  • Northbound Highway 9 at Prospect Avenue in San Lorenzo Valley is down to one-way traffic because of emergency work. This closure is expected to last until 3:59 p.m. on December 5.
     

Long-term projects

These have been going on for a while, but are still worth keeping in mind.

  • Highway 1 will have lane and ramp closures for ongoing drainage improvement work. The construction is happening from the Trafton Road Undercrossing in Monterey County to one mile north of Larkin Valley Road in Santa Cruz County, near Eastside / Live Oak.
     
  • PG&E has started work to replace a gas main in the Arroyo and Jolon Drive neighborhood off Green Valley Road in Corralitos / Freedom. There is a soft road closure in the area. Construction is underway and will continue through November 25.
