Road incidents as of 9:30 p.m. on October 16

  • A vehicle caught fire at the intersection of Highway 9 and State Route 236 in San Lorenzo Valley. The incident was reported at 9:07 p.m. today, and fire services were notified.
     
  • Northbound Highway 9 at Prospect Avenue in San Lorenzo Valley is down to one-way traffic because of emergency work. This is expected to last until 3:59 p.m. on December 5.
     
  • A hit and run happened today around 3:51 p.m. at 315 Portola Dr in the Eastside / Live Oak area. A truck hit a parked car, a fence, and another vehicle, then left the scene. The driver was suspected of being under the influence and did not stay when asked. No injuries were reported.
     
  • Defective traffic signals were reported at the intersection of Soquel Dr and Cabrillo College Dr in Aptos today at 6:43 p.m.
     
  • A traffic hazard was reported at 44 Las Lomas Dr in Watsonville / Pajaro today at 6:41 p.m.
     
  • A minor injury traffic crash happened at 9:05 p.m. today at 2785 Smith Grade in the Bonny Doon / Davenport area. The driver swerved to avoid a deer and went into an embankment. The vehicle stayed at the scene. It’s not known if the deer was still there or not. No description of the vehicle was given.
     

Long-term projects

These have been going on for a while, but are still worth keeping in mind.

  • Richmond Drive is closed at Portola Drive and 24th Avenue in Twin Lakes, Eastside / Live Oak because project work is taking longer than expected due to unexpected conditions.
     
  • PG&E has started work to replace a gas main in the Arroyo and Jolon Drive neighborhood off Green Valley Road in Corralitos / Freedom. There is a soft road closure in the area, and construction is expected to continue through November 25.
