Mike Rotkin’s otherwise excellent opinion piece on the rail trail makes the same mistake that others have made – he assumes, because a majority of us voted against the Greenway ballot “thingie,” that we support the idea of a train (light rail or otherwise) between Watsonville and Santa Cruz.
That’s an erroneous leap of logic. In fact, many of us were simply stating with our ballot that it was too early to make this decision, and that we wanted the board of supervisors and the other entities to finish their work first before a decision was made. We all need more information before committing to one version or another. Too many dollars are at stake.
