Indigenous communities from across the state and beyond will come together for the UC Santa Cruz Powwow this Sunday at Kaiser Permanente Arena in downtown Santa Cruz from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. The all-day festival celebrates Indigenous cultural heritage with dancing, singing, food, arts and crafts. Hosted by the UCSC American Indian Resource Center, this year’s event honors the late Sophia Garcia-Robles, a Native woman who worked in UC Santa Cruz’s financial aid office for 27 years and supported American Indian communities. The event is free and open to everyone. – Lily Belli
