Renters and homeowners affected by the 2023 California floods can apply for up to $300,000 in forgivable home loan assistance provided by the ReCoverCA Homebuyer Assistance Program. This funding is designed to help both low- and moderate-income households to find long-term stability in safer, more resilient locations.
Flooding hit many areas of Santa Cruz County following a series of storms that began on Dec. 31, 2022, and continued into March.
On Monday, Oct. 20, at 7 p.m., the Golden State Finance Authority will hold a community workshop at the downtown Boulder Creek rec center gym, 13333 Middleton Ave., to offer information on program eligibility, application steps and available resources.
“The ReCoverCA HBA Program can open the door to homeownership by removing one of the biggest barriers – affordability,” Carolyn Sunseri, GSFA marketing director, said in a media release. “This workshop will walk families through the steps they can take to qualify and prepare for buying a home.”
The event also features an optional networking session with GSFA representatives and approved ReCoverCA HBA lenders, giving participants the floor to ask questions, gather resources and schedule follow-up appointments. Interpreter services are available in Spanish and American Sign Language upon request when registering.
