The City of Capitola is currently seeking civic-minded residents to fill three vacancies on the Art and Cultural Commission, the Commission on the Environment and the Historical Museum Board. These groups are composed of volunteers from diverse backgrounds who are passionate about their community.

The Art and Cultural Commission advises the city council on the allocation of public art funds, acquires works of art (subject to council approval), manages special cultural programs for the city and implements the Art & Cultural Master Plan. It consists of nine members and typically meets on the second Tuesday of each month at 6:30 p.m. in the city hall council chambers. For more information, please contact staff representative Nikki Bryant at 831-475-5935 or nbryant@ci.capitola.ca.us.

The Commission on the Environment assists the city council in reducing greenhouse gases, promoting green building techniques and protecting the environment of the city, Soquel Creek, the ocean, Capitola Beach and associated habitats and riparian land. It typically meets on the third Wednesday of each month at 6 p.m. in the city hall community room.

The Historical Museum Board seeks to foster appreciation and understanding of Capitola’s culture and history through maintenance of the Capitola Museum and similar projects. It meets the first Thursday of each month at 5:30 p.m. in the city hall community room. Education and expertise in certain areas may be welcomed but is not required for appointment to an advisory body. Applications can be submitted online or printed and delivered to city hall.
