Carmageddon: West Cliff Drive could be open to traffic by year’s end
After nearly a year and a half, the Bethany Curve culvert repairs are finally getting underway Monday in Santa Cruz. The damaged section of West Cliff Drive between Columbia Street and Woodrow Avenue could reopen to one-way traffic within 10 weeks, opening the door for a fully drivable road for the first time in almost two years.

Dolphin Restaurant to be demolished due to damage as city plans ‘reimagining’ of end of wharf
The Dolphin Restaurant at the end of the Santa Cruz Municipal Wharf will be demolished in order to fix pilings underneath it damaged in a December storm surge. The city hasn’t yet determined whether the restaurant, which has stood at the end of the wharf since 1963, will be rebuilt, and plans to bring the issue to the community in a “reimagining process” on how to use the space.
