Capitola Police say they arrested a 20-year-old driver who led them on a chase in a stolen pickup truck after crashing into vehicles on 41st Avenue.
On Friday morning in Capitola, multiple witnesses reported a red Dodge pickup driving erratically. It ultimately collided with two other cars in a parking lot near the Whole Foods in the 1700 block of 41st Avenue before the driver fled.
Witnesses provide investigators with information on the vehicle, suspect, and what direction the truck was headed in. A Capitola Police officer spotted the suspect around 11 a.m. After a brief pursuit, officers stopped the truck on 38th Avenue and arrested a suspect, a 20-year-old from out of county.
The driver was charged with felony evasion of arrest, driving the wrong way, obstruction of justice, and driving under the influence of drugs.
A followup investigation showed that the pickup had been stolen earlier that day from a home in Salinas.
