Santa Cruz police cited a drunk driver earlier this week after he drove through a fence, off a 10-foot ledge and into a building on Chestnut Street.

Officers were dispatched to the area of 111 Mission St. on Monday night after reports that someone drove their car through a fence and rolled it. The driver went through a fence at 125 Mission St., down an embankment, off a 10-foot ledge, then crashed into the back of a building on Chestnut Street.

After getting out of the vehicle on his own, the driver told the officers he had been drinking, according to the Santa Cruz Police Department’s social media post.

Officers cited the driver for driving under the influence then released him to a local hospital to treat his non-life-threatening injuries.
