Watsonville residents can have their Christmas trees collected for free this week.

After removing all decorations, Watsonville residents can put trees on the curb for city pickup. The city said only natural trees will be accepted. Trees will be collected on the next regularly scheduled garbage pickup day this week.

Watsonville residents can also leave their natural or synthetic trees for free at the Waste and Recycling Drop-off Center, at 320 Harvest Dr., or Fire Station 2, 370 Airport Blvd.

To drop off waste, residents must bring proof of their Watsonville address and must already have a regularly scheduled garbage collection day. Loads other than Christmas trees must be covered by a tarp and may be subject to extra fees.
