Road incidents as of 9:30 p.m. on May. 2

  • A traffic collision happened at the intersection of Freedom Blvd. and Soquel Dr in Aptos. Emergency services are on their way. The incident was reported today.
     
  • A hit and run incident happened at 34 Harkins Slough Rd in Watsonville / Pajaro. No injuries were reported. The incident was reported today.
     
  • Alternating lanes on North Highway 1 at 41st Avenue in Capitola/Soquel are closed for a striping operation. The closure is expected to end at 4:59 a.m. on May 5.
     
  • The southbound lanes of Highway 1 in Capitola/Soquel are facing closures for road excavation. The closure will continue until 6:30 a.m. on August 29.
     

Long-term projects

These have been going on for a while, but are still worth keeping in mind.

  • Certain roads in Aptos are closed daily from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. due to the West Cliff Sewer Project. The affected roads are Middlefield Dr (between Seacliff and Cross), Seacliff Dr (between Middlefield and Oakhill), and Margaret & Gertrude Ave. (between Mcgregor and Mar Vista). This closure started on April 24 and will continue until May 5.
     
  • A single lane on Soquel Drive, between Cotton Lane and Porter Street in Capitola/Soquel, is closed for the Soquel Village Emergency Sewer Project. The closure is in effect from March 25 to May 9, with work happening on weeknights only from 7:30 p.m. to 5:30 a.m.
     
  • A single lane on Sims Road and La Madrona Drive, from Brook Knoll Road to 600 La Madrona Drive, is closed for the SCWD and SLVWD pipeline project. Traffic control is in place, and the closure is from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. daily until February 2026.
     
  • Richmond Drive and Portola Drive at 24th Avenue will have traffic delays and lane closures from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. today due to the Rodeo pump station capacity upgrade project, weather permitting. Construction also took place on April 12-13 from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. each day.
     
  • A single lane on Little Basin Road near Big Basin Way in San Lorenzo Valley is closed for storm damage repair. Expect traffic delays from January 16 through May 13, between 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m., weather permitting.
