Mirroring more than 1,000 similar gatherings Saturday across the United States, thousands turned out across Santa Cruz County for “Hands Off” rallies in protest of the actions of President Donald Trump’s second administration.

Here’s a sampling of what Lookout photojournalist Kevin Painchaud saw at the gathering at the county courthouse in Santa Cruz, which brought out an estimated 4,000 people. Correspondent Tania Ortiz captured the scene in Watsonville, where around 300 rallied at the downtown plaza.
