Santa Cruz County is known across California for leading the way to solve our toughest issues. County residents will have the opportunity to lead once again by passing Measure Q.

Measure Q is a grassroots-led ballot initiative that will raise over $7 million annually to fund local projects to protect local water sources and beaches, and reduce wildfire risk – all with direct oversight by a committee of local residents. Funds can’t be taken by the state and can’t be used for other purposes.

A required annual audit will give the community transparency and accountability.

We’ve already experienced the effects of extreme weather driven by climate change: flooding, coastal erosion and catastrophic fire. We need to do more to protect ourselves and build resilience.

Measure Q invests in a path forward by providing a dedicated source of local funds to address these issues head on. There is no time to wait. Please join numerous local organizations, such as Save Our Shores, Land Trust of Santa Cruz County, Sempervirens Fund, O’Neill Sea Odyssey, Friends of Santa Cruz State Parks, Professional Firefighters Union 3535, Central Coast Prescribed Burn Association, Fire Safe Santa Cruz County and many more who are voting yes on Q.
