Road incidents as of 9:30 p.m. on June 2

  • There was maintenance work on Highway 17 Northbound at the intersection with Sugarloaf Road in Scotts Valley, with assistance from the California Highway Patrol. This was reported today.
     
  • The northbound #2 lane on Highway 1 at the Fishhook was closed for maintenance from the Fishhook to Ocean Street. The California Highway Patrol assisted with the situation. This was reported today.
     
  • A traffic incident involving a black Volkswagen Jetta with blocked out windows, black wheels, a large sticker with Arabic writing, a red flag on the rear, and a red ‘B’ on the right upper portion of the trunk was reported today. It happened at Highway 1 North near Vista Point in Aptos.
     
  • South Highway 1 in Capitola/Soquel is facing closures for roadway excavation. The closure will last until August 29 at 6:30 a.m.
     

Long-term projects

These have been going on for a while, but are still worth keeping in mind.

  • A single lane on Sims Road and La Madrona Drive, from Brook Knoll Road to 600 La Madrona Drive in Scotts Valley, is closed for the SCWD and SLVWD pipeline project. Traffic control is in place, and the closure is from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. daily until February 2026.
     
  • Richmond Drive and Portola Drive at 24th Avenue are experiencing road closures due to the Rodeo pump station capacity upgrade project. Expect traffic delays and lane closures from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., weather permitting. Special construction hours were scheduled for April 12-13, from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. each day.
