Property development

  • The Santa Cruz County Planning Department is currently accepting public comments on a zoning application for a proposed project at 9303 Monroe Avenue in Aptos. The project involves building a new 540 square foot detached garage and includes a request for a minor exception to reduce the required 15-foot side yard setback by 50%. Residents who wish to provide input or express concerns about this application must submit their comments before the deadline on March 5, as no public comments will be accepted after that date. Roadwork is affecting traffic in the region

  • South Highway 9 at Lorenzo Avenue in San Lorenzo Valley has one-way traffic because of emergency work. This closure will last until April 1 at 3:59 p.m.
     
  • One lane is closed on North Highway 9 at Encinal Street in the Westside/Downtown area because of shoulder work. The closure will last until 3:01 p.m. on February 28.
     

Restaurant inspections

  • The Hideout at 9051 Soquel Dr Ste K, Aptos, passed a county health inspection on February 20 with no critical issues.
