Property development

  • Attention Santa Cruz County residents: The Planning Department is currently reviewing a zoning application for a project at 520 Spruce Street in the Aptos Planning Area. The proposal seeks to renew a permit for a two-bedroom vacation rental in an existing single-family home, extending the permit’s expiration from June 22, to June 22, 203. This property is intended for short-term overnight lodging, with stays limited to a maximum of 30 days. Under the Santa Cruz County Code, renewals are generally favored unless there are documented violations of the Vacation Rental Ordinance. Residents are encouraged to submit any public comments on this application by July 16, as the Planning Department will stop accepting comments after this date. A decision will be made on or after July 17, and any appeals must be filed within two weeks of the decision. If you have experienced any issues with the vacation rental, please report them to the designated emergency contact. (view application)
