Property development

  • The Santa Cruz County Planning Department has received a zoning application for a project at 520 Spruce Street in the Aptos Planning Area. The proposal seeks to renew a permit for a two-bedroom vacation rental in an existing single-family home, extending the permit’s expiration from June 22, to June 22, 203. This property is intended for short-term overnight lodging, with stays limited to a maximum of 30 days. The application will be reviewed under the Santa Cruz County Code, which typically supports renewal unless there are documented violations of the Vacation Rental Ordinance. Residents can submit public comments on the application until July 16, with a decision expected on or after July 17. Appeals must be filed within two weeks following the decision. Any issues related to the vacation rental should be reported to the designated emergency contact. (view application)
