Roadwork is affecting traffic in the region

  • CHP helped Caltrans with maintenance work in Santa Cruz County today.
     
  • South Highway 9 at Lorenzo Avenue in San Lorenzo Valley has one-way traffic because of emergency work. This closure will last until April 1 at 3:59 p.m.
     

Property development

  • A permit application has been filed for a project at 628 VISTA Del Mar Drive in Aptos, proposing to remodel 1,175 square feet and add 1,441 square feet to the existing two-story single-family home. The plans include constructing a new 289 square foot attached garage and an 815 square foot deck. The application also requests variances to exceed the 28-foot height limit and to reduce the required 10-foot side yard setback for the property. (view details)
     
  • The Santa Cruz County Planning Department has received a zoning application for a proposed project at 204 Wixon Avenue in Aptos. The application details plans to add approximately 249 square feet to the existing residence, with about 97 square feet on the first floor and 152 square feet on the second floor. The project also includes updates such as new siding, roofing, windows, a covered porch, new steps, and a new railing, all of which are designed to match the current materials and color of the home. No changes are planned for the existing decks, bedrooms, or garage. The project requires a Coastal Development Permit and will adhere to current California building, energy, mechanical, plumbing, and electrical codes. (view application)
