Roadwork is affecting traffic in the region

  • An owl was hit and injured on Highway 1 North at San Andreas in Aptos, causing traffic to slow. The incident was reported at 6:50 a.m. and updated at 7:00 a.m. today.
     
  • A defective traffic signal was reported at the intersection of Highway 1 North and Park in Capitola/Soquel. The traffic lights were flashing red and were expected to remain this way until 6:00 p.m. The issue has been reported to the relevant authorities.
     
  • The southbound lanes of Highway 1 in Capitola/Soquel are facing closures for road excavation. This closure will continue until August 29 at 6:30 a.m.
     
  • Long-term projects: – Sims Road: A single lane is closed from Brook Knoll Road to 600 La Madrona Drive due to a pipeline project. The closure is from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. daily, with traffic control in place. – Richmond Drive: Road closures and traffic delays are expected at Richmond and Portola Drive at 24th Avenue due to a pump station upgrade project. The work is from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., weather permitting. On April 12-13, construction will occur from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
