Full closure of Murray Street Bridge coming in late June, to last into 2026

The ongoing retrofit of the Murray Street Bridge will begin a new stage the week of June 23, with a full closure shutting down the eastbound lane that has remained open since construction began in March. The closure is expected to last more than seven months, into February 2026. Continue reading…

Encompass closes one mental health site, another at risk as budget cuts loom

Encompass Community Services, Santa Cruz County’s largest nonprofit provider of behavioral mental health residential programs, says its Casa Pacific facility in Watsonville is at risk of closure as a result of funding cuts from the county.
