Roadwork is affecting traffic in the region

  • One lane of North Highway 9 at Encinal Street in the Westside/Downtown area is closed for shoulder work. The closure will last until 3:01 p.m. on February 28.
     
  • A vehicle was reported as a traffic hazard, partially blocking the road by about 2 feet at River Rd and Manzanita Rd. It was unclear if anyone was inside or if the vehicle was abandoned. The incident was reported today.
     
  • CHP helped Caltrans with maintenance work at the intersection of Highway 17 and Glenwood Cutoff in Scotts Valley today.
     

Property development

  • On February 6, the Santa Cruz County Planning Department formally approved a zoning application for a project at 6977 Empire Grade, Santa Cruz 95060. The approved project will establish a new two-bedroom vacation rental within an existing single-family home, allowing overnight stays of up to 30 days at a time. The property required and has now received a vacation rental permit to operate under these terms. (view application)
