Roadwork is affecting traffic in the region
- A lane on north Highway 17 at Spanish Bit Chapel is closed for utility work. The closure is expected to end at 5:01 a.m. today.
- A fire was reported near the Morrissey Blvd. onramp to southbound Highway 1, on the right side by the soundwall at the curve. Smoke was seen coming from an encampment, possibly from a warming fire. The fire department was called, but when they arrived, they did not see any smoke. The incident was reported today in the Eastside / Live Oak area.
- Northbound Highway 1 is facing closures at Route 129 in the Watsonville / Pajaro area because of electrical work. The closure is expected to end at 2:59 p.m. on August 21.
- A lane on southbound Highway 1 at Buena Vista Drive in Watsonville / Pajaro is closed for emergency work. The closure is expected to end at 6:59 a.m. today.
- There is one-way traffic control on Highway 9 at Prospect Avenue in San Lorenzo Valley because of emergency work. The closure is expected to end at 3:59 p.m. on August 23.
- A lane on North Highway 9 at mile marker 13.6 in San Lorenzo Valley is closed for utility work. The closure is expected to end at 5:01 p.m. tomorrow.
- Long-term projects: – A single lane will be closed on Sims Road and La Madrona Drive from Brook Knoll Road to 600 La Madrona Drive between 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. for a pipeline project by SCWD and SLVWD. Traffic control will be in place, and the closure is expected to last until February 2026.
– The southbound Highway 17 off-ramp at La Madrona Drive in Santa Cruz County will be closed for one day on Saturday, August 9, from 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Traffic control will affect both directions on La Madrona Drive during this time.
– Emergency repairs and culvert replacement are ongoing on southbound Highway 1 near the Buena Vista Drive exit in Santa Cruz County. Work will continue throughout the week of August 4 to August 8, including clearing vegetation.
