CELEBRATE SPRING AND MOM
Enjoy idyllic spring weather this Mother’s Day weekend with art markets, live music and events that celebrate the season.
The Tannery Arts Center’s Spring Art Market returns this Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., with a full day of local art, live music and open studios. It’s A Gay Day in May, indeed, at Woodhouse Blending & Brewing in Santa Cruz from noon to 6 p.m., where Motion Pacific is hosting dance lessons, live DJ sets and a marketplace of queer vendors. In Watsonville, Farm Discovery at Live Earth Farm – the educational nonprofit arm of the organic farm – invites supporters to its annual Spring Picnic for lunch and to hear a panel of speakers from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. All of these events are free.
On Sunday morning, get moving with Mom at the 42nd annual Mother’s Day Run and Walk at Pinto Lake County Park in Watsonville. This 10K/5K/1K trail run and walk starts early at 7 a.m. and benefits families experiencing homelessness. Registration is $20-50. That afternoon, Stravaig: The San Francisco Scottish Fiddlers led by Caroline McCaskey will come to Cabrillo College’s Crocker Theater for an afternoon concert featuring more than 70 musicians.
